TOOL CLARITY

This week we’re cutting through the noise and focusing on what actually moves builders forward. Sorry it’s been a while.

But first here are some of the news stories you may have missed 👇

Anthropic adds plugins to Cowork: sources claim this to be one of the main reasons for a huge software selloff in the stock market.

Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.3 Codex released on the same day: get a good breakdown between the two here.

SpaceX-xAI merger: this merger now values the company around 1.25 trillion dollars.

Let’s dive in.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🤖 What’s going on with the lobster?

Mainstream creators have been hyping OpenClaw up like crazy, some even calling it AGI. However, I'm here to explain why you should probably sit this one out.

Is it really worth the setup time?

I really do get the appeal of OpenClaw and love the concept.

It's a personal assistant that has context to basically your whole digital life just from texting it. The thing is, I think the big AI companies are also starting to see the appeal as well.

In a matter of weeks one of them is likely to come out with their own version that's safer, easier, and faster to use.

To get anywhere really useful with OpenClaw, it can take a pretty long time to set up properly. Not to mention the amount of credits it can eat up from simple tasks is crazy.

Security risks

I'm sure Peter (creator) is making OpenClaw a little safer every week, but it's had a ton of security problems as well. I just don't see how it's worth giving it access to personal or business info with everything that has happened.

Here are a few examples:

  • Prompt injections your agents could find

  • 400+ malicious skills/plugins have been uploaded

  • Reports of people's Gmail accounts getting suspended

  • Agents randomly start going rogue

I'm not a full-on hater of OpenClaw and don't think it's a terrible idea to try it out if you know what you're doing. I just don't think it's worth handing over your personal details for something that's about to be likely replaced.

GROWTH
Reddit is still an undervalued social platform

I believe in the current state of social media there is really only one way to get your first customers without an existing audience fast.

That’s through Reddit.

You could use paid ads obviously but I’m talking organic only.

Reddit Strategy

Unlike other social platforms it’s much easier to get eyes on your content quick with no followers.

The first and most obvious thing you need to do is provide value. I know people say that a lot but you really won’t get very far without somewhat engaging content.

For example, build-in-public content on Reddit can work very well just like on X.

Don’t make your post sound like an ad either. Link to your website when it comes up casually or put it at the very end if it’s free and you go more in-depth.

The second most important thing in my opinion is what communities you post in.

I got over half of my initial signups from one community I randomly decided to try. Keep trying different communities that relate to your niche and see what works.

Here are some niche ones that worked for me:

Quick useful tips

  • Upvotes in the first few minutes matter a lot.

  • Share posts with people you know who can engage.

  • Hate comments are going to come at some point. It’s almost unavoidable.
